The history of Fairmount
The Fairmount National Historic District in the Near Southside is part of the nation’s richest collections of turn-of-the-century housing. The 20 subdivisions were platted between 1883 and 1907 and were once occupied by business executives, doctors, lawyers + educators.
With help from the community, the area is being revitalized to restore its glory. Events like this weekend’s Home Tour raise money to benefit neighborhood improvements, infrastructure, parks + schools and programs.
Tour the history Each year, the tour highlights 6-10 homes for the community to step inside and view. A parade will kick the celebrations off tomorrow, Sat., May 7 at 10 a.m in Fairmount Park. Here are the homes being featured this year: 🏡 Four restored bungalow-style homes 🏡 The current renovation of the Naylor-Moses House 🏡 A restored bungalow housing Fort Worth Focused Real Estate 🏡 The Victorian-style M.A. Benton House Need some inspo for your Pinterest board? In a press release, the organizer said most of the homes were built 1890-1930 and include antique hardware, pocket doors + other historic characteristics.
