Avid cyclist and runner, Jennifer Grissom became the director of Fort Worth Bike Sharing in 2019 and has been working tirelessly to make Cowtown a bike-friendly city — in a fun, collaborative + sustainable way. We asked Jennifer 10 questions about where she likes to ride, what’s coming up with FWBS, and the cycling future of FTW. |

What is your favorite place in Fort Worth to ride one of the shared bikes? I really like getting out to Airfield Falls lately. You can go through Trinity Park and see kids playing and families cooking out. You pass Crestwood it gets shady and serene. Then there's a hill you can climb for some exercise before you get to the waterfall. You just pause for a minute and feel like you're in a secret place. |

How is Fort Worth Bike Sharing working with the city to make Fort Worth more bike-friendly?
We are definitely an advocate for the new bond that just passed. We keep in touch with city planners and the different organizations that have a say in protected bike lanes. We really push the idea that these small, incremental improvements make a big difference.
Several new stations have opened in the last few months. What are your expansion plans going forward?
We are applying for grants to add five new stations a year. We have a survey going on right now so that people can give feedback on where they want stations. We have such a wide range of riders, and I want to take into account all of them when we place a station.

On Sun., May 15 at 1 p.m., members of the Huong Dao Temple, a Buddhist monastery at 4717 E. Rosedale St., will place the “first stone” for their $100 million expansion project. The 14-acre site will one day be home to 840 stupas that will house sacred scriptures. 🛕 (Fort Worth Report)
- The City Council has approved a land lease agreement for the Las Vegas Trail Child Development Campus. Construction on the
8,600-sqft, eight-classroom facility is expected to start in late summer or fall of this year. Child Care Associates will operate the center.
Civic -
The Fort Worth Chamber launched a first-of-its-kind program to promote growth on the western side of DFW. The Regional Economic Development Partnership includes 18 municipalities and counties that will work to strengthen community relationships, track business trends + share resources.
Health Awards -
The Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo received the Golden Deeds Award for exceptional service to the community from the Exchange Club. The 98-year-old recognition was first awarded to Fort Worth civic booster and publisher of The Star-Telegram Amon G. Carter, Sr. 🐄 (Fort Worth Report)
- CultureMap’s Tastemaker Awards have crowned Cowtown’s culinary cream of the crop.
Dusty Biscuit Beignets was awarded best new restaurant, and Ol’ South Pancake House locked in best breakfast. Luckybee Kitchen’s Jenny Castor,

Stargazers and space junkies will be able to see the “Super Flower Blood Moon” total lunar eclipse on Sun., May 15 from 8:30 p.m.-2 a.m. The astronomical anomaly is named so because it will be larger and brighter than usual and happens in the botanical month of May. 🌕 (Time and Date)
