College prep school Fort Worth Country Day broke ground on $3.5 million worth of upgrades to its athletic fields last week. The USS Fort Worth and four other littoral combat ships were saved from decommissioning. The House Appropriations Committee approved the provision in a wide-ranging defense spending bill last week. We’re flying into the future — DFW Airport is testing face-scanning technology to make travel plans even easier. Students at the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth are now getting hands-on experience all from the classroom. The school held a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week to celebrate the opening of the first-ever immersive virtual reality simulation center in Texas.
The Regional Simulation Center uses cutting-edge technology, life-like simulation mannequins, and other virtual reality experiences to help students perfect and acquire new skills. The $6.75 million facility is also open for hospital residency programs + other training programs.
