Hello Friday.
April 19 2024
As we reported in yesterday’s newsletter, Texas Wesleyan University recently announced plans to build a new, $16.5 million football stadium thanks to a generous donor. And that’s not all that’s coming to campus.
Fort Worth-native + TXWES legacy Karen Cramer is a longtime supporter of the university and pledged $5 million to help fund the construction of the new facility. In return, she will be the stadium’s namesake.

Here’s what we know so far
The Rams (part of the Sooner Athletic Conference) will move out of Farrington Field and into their own facility — a block north of E. Rosedale Street between Binkley Street and Nashville Avenue.
The stadium will be built on the west side of the campus in three phases:
🐏 A practice field and lighting
🐏 NCAA-certified track
🐏 Bleachers, press box, fieldhouse + concessions
Plans for the facility have been in the works since 2017 when the university brought back its football team after a 76-year hiatus.

The announcement is part of Texas Wesleyan’s Engage 2025 Strategic Plan which includes new facilities, curriculum development + increased community involvement.
Other projects in the works
A stadium is just the beginning of what’s coming to the university. Students will also see upgrades in the area surrounding the campus, which is part of the Rosedale Renaissance project. The developments include:
- A $6.7 million revitalization of the campus + the Polytechnic neighborhood.
- Renovated storefronts along the 3000 and 3100 blocks of E. Rosedale Street.
- The Rosedale — a $10.5 million housing development scheduled to open next fall.
Texas Wesleyan President Frederick G. Slabach said in a press release the new stadium is expected to enhance student, alumni + community engagement, and spur further economic growth by bringing more people to the area. Go Rams.

Tis’ the season of giving.
Fort Worth police are making sure we’re prepared for Thanksgiving next week.
Instead of handing out tickets for minor traffic violations — officers with the NW division gifted some lucky drivers a turkey. 🦃
