There's a swanky, new, speakeasy-inspired cocktail bar now open at Hotel Revel.
Sugarman's opened Wednesday at 1165 Eighth Ave., Ste. 137 — the ground floor of the hotel. According to the bar, Sugarman's takes its name from Andrew "Sugarman" Daniel, a Mississippi man who risked his life rescuing victims of the 1939 Clear Creek Disaster — it's a tribute to "unsung heroes" (that is, the medical personnel and first responders who work in the area).
Cocktails include Bluebird (Tanqueray 10 gin, Blue Curacao, Lillet Blanc, pineapple and lemon juices, and atomized absinthe), Oui (Sombra Mezcal, Empress gin, lime juice, and simple syrup), and a coffee cocktail called Hideaway. Four Deuces — a spin on an old fashioned made with Proof and Wood Roulette rye whiskey, root beer syrup, and chocolate and cherry bitters — comes garnished with a mini playing card. Sugarman's also serves martinis like Vesper, Manhattan, and Old Tom Martinez, among others.
Hours are 7 a.m. – 11 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The full menu and more information are available on Sugarman's website.
